Intracranial meningiomas are mostly found with dura-based extra-axial tumors that represent one-sixths of all primary brain tumors. Authors report a rare case of temporal intraparenchymal meningioma without dural attachment. A 10-year old boy presented with epileptic seizure 3 days before admission. Neurologic examination showed no abnormality. Magnetic resonance imaging revealed a 2.0 cm¡¿2.0 cm sized round mass with perilesional edema in the right inferior temporal lobe. The tumor was iso- to hperintense on T1-weighted and hyperintense on T2-weighted images, and heterogeousely enhanced with gadolinium. Small branches of the right middle cerebral arteries supplied blood to the tumor on cerebral angiography. Gross total removal of the mass was done. The tumor was completely buried in the right temporal cortex without dural attachment. Histopathological examination indicated that the lesion was meningioma of transitional type. The patient showed no tumor recurrence and no epileptic seizures during 3 years follow up. In this report, the authors present a very rare case of intraparenchymal meningioma with review of literature.
